Rogues represent Sask, in Winnipeg

For the Green and Yellow,

5 members of the Regina Rogues represented Team Sask on this July long weekend in Winnipeg as the Sask Rugby Men took on the Manitoba Bisons in a 2 games series.  The first game kicked off at 7pm on Saturday June 30th, and saw Team sask jump out to an early lead thanks to a long run off an intercept by the Oats Josh Brown.  Manitoba came back with a try of their own after some steady pressure.  The teams traded blows and at the end of the first half there was just 5 points between them.  Poor tackling and cohesion allowed the Bisons to stretch the lead in the first 20 minutes of the second half, and though the Sask boys fought back a bit in the final 20, Manitoba was too strong for us on this day.  Congratulations to Tyler Hydamen and Alek Silzer, for being in the starting lineup for this match.

Final Score: Manitoba-48, Sask-21

Game 2 started with a player-sung rendition of "Oh Canada" at high noon on Canada Day.  Team Sask came into this game well rested, ready to play, with a much improved mindset.  The good guys jumped off to a 14 - 0 lead with some geat plays by the Grads Matt Bircher, and a beautiful team try finished off by the Oats William Wyatt(Fuzzy). Credit to Manitoba, they came roaring back with two tries of their own, and tied the game at 14.  From then on, the teams traded tries for the rest of the match with the bisons finally coming out on top.  This game was an extremely tight, hard fought affair by both teams, and the winner was bound to be decided by who scored last.  Congratulations goes to Tyler, Alek, Mark Discombe and Jon King, for all getting the starting job on this day.  Further recognition to Mark Discombe for being named Man of The Match for team Sask this match.

Final Score: Manitoba-35, Sask-31

The Prairie Super Leage continues this weekend in Regina on Friday July 6th, and Sunday July 8th.  Come down and support your boys, as they take on Calgary and Edmonton.
